Replacement Blocks
Because our alphabet block sets tend to become family heirlooms, many people have requested replacements for missing blocks. Often, a dog has had a wonderful time chewing away on a few blocks. Perhaps the most interesting story we received, was from a family whose remodeling contractor used a loose block while assembling a piece of furniture, the block was just the perfect size and he didn't think the child would miss it. Well, the mother noticed, and we were able to replace the exact block.
Replacements are free…but we regret that we must charge a small fee for the shipping and handling costs. We charge $5 for the first block and $1 for each additional block. Please see our secure shopping cart link at the top of this page.
To determine which blocks are missing from your ABC block set, follow these instructions:
We have manufactured embossed ABC blocks since 1983, and there have been a few small changes made over the years.
Some sets came with wood crates or other containers and we have also made sets with different quantities of blocks (16, 24, 27, 28, 30, 32 and 64 blocks). The blocks were the same, but we included a variety of different animal pictures depending on the sets. The 16 block sets have 8 "mama" and 8 "baby" animal pictures. The rest of the sets featured a variety of 64 different animal pictures. We have "retired" a few of the animal pictures from the very early years, including the puffin, the deer, and the nautilus, but the rest remain in production to this day.
Organize the blocks into a rectangle 4 blocks wide by 7 blocks tall with the animals facing up…reorganize the set to match the order below to determine which block you are missing.

If your set is different from this, you will be able to determine which blocks are different. Keep track of the color & animal picture of the missing block(s) and the color of the embossed sides (orange/green or yellow/blue). Because the diagram above shows 28 blocks (this set comes with a pull-wagon), your 27-block set will be missing the alligator block.
